Fra Indi

The Project was born in 2016 and is centered on solo, self-sufficient winter expeditions and explorations with sled dogs, through which Fra Indi reads and interprets what he calls the “impressions of nature,” later integrating them with literary, philosophical, and art-historical insights.

The aim is to show and convey how it is both possible and appropriate to seek a balanced relationship with nature: returning to the natural rhythm of time, as opposed to the obsession with the fast pace imposed by the dominant social system. Fra Indi hopes that his journey can spark an emotional awakening and make a small contribution to the conscious evolution of humankind. Experiencing the natural environment is the first step toward a true reconnection with the Earth, and learning to be content with less is the key to a life in dialogue with our planet; something that traditional peoples and communities have long understood.

The Project also aims to raise awareness of what Fra Indi calls the “ecological emergency,” understood as a crisis of relationships — with nature, with others, and with ourselves.

Understanding the root of the problems in our way of life requires reflecting on the inherent limits, contradictions, and tensions of modern civilization.

Why are dogs part of the project? Dogs become teachers of nonverbal communication thanks to their genuine perception of nature and their ability to interact with humans, thus creating a bridge between people and the natural world. They are examples of adaptation and an invitation to focus on the present moment.

Since 2023, the Jaranga Cultural Association has been promoting and sharing The Project’s values and core ideas.
