Established in September 2023, the Jaranga Cultural Association aims to be a home and a community where people can participate, contribute, gather, and share insights, values, and ideals that foster a shift in how we perceive our relationship with the world and society, in line with the ideas promoted through The Project:

  • An analysis of the human–nature relationship in order to broaden our horizons and recognize human beings as a simple component of the whole.
  • The ecological emergency is understood not exclusively as an environmental issue, but primarily as a human one, since ecology should be seen as a network of interactions and connections with all that exists on Mother Earth.
  • An examination of the problems of modern civilization, reflecting on the dynamics that hinder an evolution in dialogue with nature.

Symbolically, the Association aims to be a place for sharing thoughts, ideas, and perspectives, where we strive to imagine and build a different reality; a nascent community of people with a shared vision who believe in the real possibility of recreating a life in balance with nature and Mother Earth.

With this in mind, the aim is also to collaborate with like-minded organizations to create a community of people who share experiences and skills, and who work together to promote a lifestyle in connection with nature through events, meetings, and various activities, including educational projects.

Purpose

During the expeditions, Fra Indi gathers insights and ideas that are then reworked and integrated with artistic and philosophical content to be shared during meetings, events, and educational projects promoted by the Association. This work is based on the idea that coming together fosters listening and dialogue, which are the pillars of a “community.” Through cultural activities and events, we raise the funds needed to support Fra Indi’s explorations with his sled dogs, through which he seeks the inspiration and material to continue sharing the core values of The Project.

Why Jaranga

The origin of the name “Jaranga” is ancient: it was the tent in which the Ciukci—traditional Arctic people—lived. The jaranga was a tent, a home, a warm and cozy dwelling where family and community found shelter, and where life was discussed and organized in authentic balance with the laws of nature.
